China Android Store Screenshot Upload Failed? Fixes for Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo

Six reasons screenshots fail

For overseas developers: in mainland China, Android apps are distributed mainly through phone makers' own stores such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and vivo, not Google Play. Each store checks screenshots in its own way.

When a screenshot upload is blocked or rejected, it's almost always one of these:

  1. Wrong size: not the pixels the console expects.
  2. Wrong count: Xiaomi, for example, needs at least 4.
  3. Wrong format: Xiaomi accepts PNG only.
  4. File too large: OPPO wants under 1 MB, vivo up to 2 MB.
  5. Mixed orientation: vivo wants one set to be all landscape or all portrait.
  6. Content rules: iPhone frames, other brands' marks, or duplicate, blurry or stretched images.

Find which one you're hitting with the table below.

All sources are in Chinese and were checked on 2026-10-22. The Huawei row is for HarmonyOS apps on phones. For tablets, watches and other devices, see Huawei AppGallery screenshot size. Rules change, so follow each console's validation when you upload.

Check each cause

Size: 1080 × 1920 works everywhere

All four stores list 1080 × 1920 for portrait screenshots. Common mistakes:

  • Uploading raw phone captures. Many phones are taller than 9:16, so the pixels don't match.
  • Exporting a design at 1x or 2x and ending up with the wrong pixels.
  • Mockup padding that makes the canvas larger.

Fix with resize and keep the aspect ratio. Stretched images are themselves on Xiaomi's and vivo's reject lists.

Count: Xiaomi needs at least 4

Huawei takes 3–10, OPPO and vivo 3–5, and Xiaomi 4–5. A 3-screenshot set fails on Xiaomi. A 4–5 screenshot set works for all four.

Format: Xiaomi is PNG only

Xiaomi lists PNG. OPPO and vivo take JPG/PNG. Huawei takes PNG/JPG/JPEG, plus WEBP with a lower size cap. So:

  • Export PNG for Xiaomi.
  • For OPPO, you'll usually need JPG to get under 1 MB.

File size: OPPO's 1 MB is the tightest

StoreMax per file
OPPOUnder 1 MB
vivoUp to 2 MB
HuaweiUp to 5 MB (WEBP 200 KB)
XiaomiUp to 5 MB

PNG is lossless, so gradients, photos and shadows push files past 1 MB easily. Convert OPPO's set to JPG with compress and tune the quality. Step-by-step: OPPO screenshots under 1MB.

Orientation: vivo wants one direction

vivo's guidelines say screenshots must all be landscape or all portrait. Huawei also says that within one device type, the intro video and screenshots must share an orientation. The safest choice is all portrait.

Content: no iPhone frames

The content rules overlap a lot:

  • vivo: no photos or frames of non-Android devices (iPhone frames are the example given); no duplicate, blurry, stretched, over-compressed or cut-off images.
  • OPPO: screenshots must match the app, no duplicates, no other brands' marks.
  • Xiaomi: no compressed, stretched, blurry or cut-off images; nothing that doesn't match real features; no third-party trademarks, devices, OS interfaces or brand marks without authorization.

So don't reuse your App Store set with iPhone frames. Real UI on a solid or gradient background is safest. More in store screenshot device frame rules.

How to make store screenshots

  1. Capture real screens. Take 4–5 key screens on a device or emulator. Remove test data and notifications.
  2. Lay them out. In the screenshot maker, pick the Android 1080 × 1920 preset (HarmonyOS, OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi all use it). Add one short caption per screen, use a solid or gradient background, and skip iPhone frames.
  3. Design once, export per store:
    • Xiaomi: PNG, up to 5 MB each, 4–5 images
    • OPPO: JPG under 1 MB each, 3–5 images
    • vivo: JPG/PNG up to 2 MB each, 3–5 images, one orientation
    • Huawei: PNG/JPG up to 5 MB each, 3–10 images
  4. Check before upload. The screenshot checker verifies size, format and file size in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

For many channels at once, see the multi-channel Android screenshot workflow.

Pre-upload checklist

  • Everything is 1080 × 1920 (or 1920 × 1080 in one direction), nothing stretched
  • 4–5 images, enough for Xiaomi's minimum of 4
  • Xiaomi set is PNG
  • OPPO files under 1 MB; vivo files up to 2 MB
  • One orientation per set
  • No iPhone frames, no other brands' marks, no duplicates

FAQ

The console rejects my screenshots without a clear reason. What now? Go through size, count, format, file size and orientation in that order. The most common cause is the file size cap, especially OPPO's 1 MB.

Can one set work for all four stores? The size can: build at 1080 × 1920. But Xiaomi wants PNG and OPPO wants under 1 MB, so export separately.

Can I show an iPhone? Avoid it. vivo explicitly bans iPhone and other non-Android device frames, and OPPO and Xiaomi restrict other brands' marks and devices.
