OPPO App Market Screenshots Under 1MB: Compressing 1080×1920 Screenshots Without Blurry Text

What OPPO actually requires

OPPO Open Platform's app upload walkthrough, posted by its operations team on the developer forum, lists these requirements for store listing assets:

AssetRequirement
Portrait screenshots3–5 images, 1080 × 1920, JPG / PNG, under 1M; must match the app, no duplicates, no other brands' logos
Landscape screenshots (optional)3–5 images, JPG / PNG, under 1M; newer store versions show them first when provided
App icon512 × 512 PNG, under 1M, square corners (don't pre-round)
App video (optional)MP4, under 500MB

That post dates from 2024 and specs do change, so trust the live validation in the OPPO console when you upload. The landscape size is written unusually in the original, so confirm it against the console's prompt.

The 1MB cap is tight, and it's where many uploads get stuck. For a store-by-store comparison, see China app store screenshot sizes.

Why your screenshots keep going over 1MB

Most of the time, it's because the design tool exported PNG.

PNG is lossless. Gradients, photos, shadows and frosted-glass effects all make the file noticeably bigger, and a 1080 × 1920 PNG screenshot over 1MB is not unusual. JPG is lossy, and the same image at a sensible quality setting is usually much smaller.

So the plan is simple: design as usual, then deliver OPPO a JPG set at a controlled quality.

Getting under 1MB in three steps

Step 1: export at exactly 1080 × 1920

In the screenshot editor, pick the Android 1080×1920 preset (it covers OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi), lay out 3–5 frames and export. Get the dimensions right first, so compression only changes file size, not pixels.

If a source image isn't 1080 × 1920, fix it with the image resizer first, keeping the aspect ratio so nothing stretches.

Step 2: convert to JPG and tune quality

Open the image compressor:

  1. Upload an exported screenshot (one at a time).
  2. Set the quality slider. Start at 80%, which is also the default.
  3. Export and check the size. Still over 1MB? Drop 5% and try again. Already well under? Nudge it up for extra sharpness.

The tool re-encodes the image as JPG entirely in your browser, so screenshots never leave your machine.

Two things to watch:

  • Transparent areas turn black when a PNG becomes a JPG. Store screenshots shouldn't have transparency anyway, so fill the background before exporting.
  • Don't push quality too low. Screenshots usually carry headline text, and very low quality adds blocky artifacts and ragged edges around letters. In our experience 70–85% balances quality and size; where you land depends on how busy the image is.

Step 3: verify the size

In the screenshot compliance checker, select OPPO and drop in all your compressed files. It reads each image's dimensions, format and size in the browser and checks them against OPPO's spec. Under an "under 1MB" rule, exactly 1MB counts as over.

To glance at a batch of file sizes, there's also the file size viewer. It uses 1024-based units, and other systems or consoles may count differently. Leave yourself a margin, say around 950KB, rather than sitting right at 1000KB.

Text still blurry? Simplify the design

If you can't get both small size and crisp text however you tune it, the image itself is usually the problem:

  • Use solid colors or simple gradients for backgrounds, and avoid large photos and noisy textures.
  • Don't set captions too small. Heavier weights hold up better under compression; see screenshot typography tips.
  • Cut back on big shadows and semi-transparent overlays. These are where JPG artifacts show first.

Cleaner frames produce smaller files at the same quality, with sharper text.

Handling several stores at once

When you ship to multiple Chinese stores, this routine saves time:

  1. Design on one 1080 × 1920 master.
  2. Export and archive a high-quality original set.
  3. Compress a separate sub-1MB JPG set just for OPPO.
  4. Upload to the other stores per their own consoles (some are more lenient on size, some are picky about format).

The full multi-channel routine is in the multi-channel Android screenshot batch workflow, and OPPO-specific listing advice is in OPPO app store ASO tips.

Pre-upload checklist

  • 3–5 portrait screenshots, each 1080 × 1920
  • JPG or PNG, each under 1MB (with a margin)
  • No transparency, no black patches
  • Zoomed-in text has no obvious artifacts
  • No duplicate screenshots; content matches the app
  • No other brands' marks (including device frames from other manufacturers such as Apple)

Specs follow the OPPO Open Platform console. Last checked October 21, 2026.
