“There Are Still Screenshot Uploads in Progress”: How to Fix It in App Store Connect

The symptom

Your screenshots look uploaded, but when you try to submit, App Store Connect stops you with:

There are still screenshot uploads in progress.

It means App Store Connect thinks at least one screenshot hasn't finished processing. The catch: that screenshot often isn't on the page you're looking at. It may sit in another localization or another device size.

The checks below go from most to least common. Each one is based on Apple's Screenshot specifications and Manage your App Store assets.

For other upload errors, such as "The dimensions of one or more screenshots are wrong," see our App Store Connect screenshot upload errors guide.

Step 1: Open Media Manager and check every localization

The version page only shows the current language and device tab. Apple's docs say that to manage other device sizes you select View All Sizes in Media Manager, and to work on other localizations you choose the language from the pop-up menu at the top right.

So:

  1. Open Media Manager and scroll through every device size.
  2. Switch to each localization you've added and check again.
  3. Look for screenshots that are still processing, look wrong, or show an error.

A common cause is a stray screenshot in a secondary language that you never look at.

Delete it and upload again. Apple notes that when you remove a screenshot, it's also removed from every other display size that uses a scaled version of it, so check that those sizes aren't now empty.

Step 2: Use exact pixel sizes

App Store Connect only accepts the listed sizes. Being one pixel off fails. The required iPhone and iPad slots are:

SlotRequiredPortrait size
iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display)Yes1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556
iPad 13-inch displayIf your app supports iPadOS2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732

For landscape, swap the numbers. Other sizes (for example 6.9-inch, 1320 × 2868) are optional. If your UI is the same across sizes, provide the highest required resolution and App Store Connect scales it down.

Typical causes of wrong sizes:

  • Exporting at 1x or 2x of an artboard that isn't the target size.
  • Mockup padding that makes the canvas larger.
  • Putting a 6.9-inch set into the 6.3-inch slot, or the other way around.

Check sizes locally with the screenshot checker, fix them with resize, and see every slot in our App Store screenshot size guide.

Step 3: Remove alpha, and stick to JPG or PNG

From Apple's specifications: images can't include alpha channels or transparencies, and the formats are .jpeg, .jpg or .png.

A PNG with an alpha channel looks normal but can block the upload. Fixes:

  • Turn off alpha when exporting, or export JPG.
  • Convert with our format tool. JPG has no alpha channel.
  • Fill the background first so transparent areas don't turn black.

Also check the count: at least 1 and at most 10 screenshots per device size.

Step 4: Check the version status

Apple lists the statuses in which you can upload and submit screenshots:

  • Prepare for Submission
  • Invalid Binary
  • Rejected
  • Metadata Rejected
  • Developer Rejected

If the version is Waiting for Review or In Review, you can't change its screenshots until it's back in an editable state.

Step 5: Check your role

Managing assets requires Account Holder, Admin, App Manager, or Marketing. A Developer role can't do everything here.

Still stuck: go one at a time

  1. Keep only the required slots (iPhone medium Dynamic Island, plus 13-inch iPad if you support iPad) and clear the rest for now.
  2. Upload screenshots one by one, refreshing after each to confirm it finished.
  3. Submit once everything shows as processed.

If one file is the problem, you'll see exactly which one.

Pre-upload checklist

  • Every localization and device size checked in Media Manager
  • Required slots filled: iPhone medium Dynamic Island; 13-inch iPad if supported
  • Exact listed pixel sizes, consistent orientation
  • JPG or PNG, no alpha channel
  • 1–10 screenshots per size
  • Version is editable and your role can manage assets

Review rejections are a different problem. See App Store screenshot rejection reasons.

FAQ

Will it clear up if I wait? If the upload just started and is still processing, a refresh will show it done. If the message keeps coming back, there's usually one unprocessed screenshot in some localization or size. Go back to Step 1.

Can I upload only 6.9-inch screenshots? No. Apple's required iPhone slot is now iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556. The 6.9-inch slot is optional and doesn't replace it.

My PNG looks fine. Why won't it go through? Most often it has an alpha channel you can't see. Export without alpha or convert to JPG and try again.
