Design & features
FZKai was released in 1996 by Founder's type department, tracing its roots to the 1940s Huawen Kai metal type. Its structure is graceful and balanced, strokes are round and soft with little contrast, and it feels light and natural.
Its encodings cover mainland Simplified (GB2312-80), mainland Traditional (GB12345-90), GBK and Big5.
Best uses
FZKai shows its personality best in refreshing heritage brands, Chinese-style posters and festival and solar-term designs. The bigger the size, the more brush detail shows; at small sizes it can turn muddy.

FAQ
Is FZKai free for commercial projects?
Free for personal and commercial use. Terms can change between versions, so double-check the official notice before commercial release.
How complete is the character set of FZKai?
According to its release notes, FZKai supports Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Its encodings cover mainland Simplified (GB2312-80), mainland Traditional (GB12345-90), GBK and Big5.
Is FZKai good for body text?
Only for very short text. FZKai's brush detail blurs at small sizes, so leave long passages to a regular face like LXGW WenKai.
How do I use FZKai in Photoshop or Figma?
Download the files from the Netdisk link and unzip them, then drag the files into your system fonts folder, or double-click and install. Restart your design app and search for "方正楷体" in the font list. Figma in the browser needs the Figma font installer to read local fonts.
