Design & features
Basteleur was created by French designer Keussel, inspired by the Tarot de Marseille, blending Cooper Black's softness with unusual medieval letter shapes. A lighter, sharper weight was added for its anniversary in June 2022.
Two weights: the sharper Moonlight and the rounder, softer Bold.
Best uses
Basteleur shines in English poster headlines and editorial layouts, and is a good fit for English captions on app screenshots too. When mixing with Chinese, nudge the Latin size up slightly so its visual height matches.
