HarmonyOS App ICP Filing: How to Complete It Quickly Before Publishing

As the HarmonyOS ecosystem keeps growing, more developers are porting their apps to HarmonyOS or launching there first. But if you want to publish in app stores in mainland China, app ICP filing (备案) is a compliance step you can't skip.

What is HarmonyOS app filing?

For overseas developers: app ICP filing is a registration with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) that every app distributed in mainland China must complete; the store will not list your app without a filing number. Under MIIT requirements, every app that runs in China has to go through the filing process. For HarmonyOS developers this applies whether you are building a native HarmonyOS NEXT ("星河") app with ArkTS or a traditional compatible app: you need a filing number, and it has to be displayed correctly inside the app.

How to use the filing tool

AppShot Maker offers polished screenshot tools, and we also recommend our dedicated HarmonyOS filing MD5 signature tool.

With this tool you can:

  1. Extract the bundle name in one click: pulled accurately from the configuration file.
  2. Get the public key and signing fingerprints: parse your signing files (.p12, .cer) and instantly get the MD5, SHA1 and other certificate fingerprints the filing requires.
  3. Avoid rejections caused by formatting errors: the filing system is strict about public key formats, and the tool automatically converts the signature into the format MIIT expects.

Summary

If you're building for HarmonyOS, get compliance right first. Good automation makes the road to publishing your HarmonyOS app much smoother. Give our HarmonyOS filing tool a try.
