Design & features

WenQuanYi Zen Hei comes from the WenQuanYi community project founded by Fang Qianqian in 2004. It is a sans-serif computer Hei with clear strokes, visible contrast, upright structure and a steady centre of gravity.

It was the first free Chinese font to fully cover GB18030, GB2312, Big5 and GBK, with more than 27,842 Simplified and Traditional hanzi plus Japanese, Korean and dozens of other scripts.

Best uses

Stylistically, WenQuanYi Zen Hei works well for event poster headlines, short-video cover titles and brand slogans. On app store screenshots, keep the headline to 6–10 characters per line so it reads in thumbnails.

Generally no. WenQuanYi Zen Hei is strongest in short lines at large sizes and loses readability in body text; set only key words or numbers in WenQuanYi Zen Hei and the rest in HarmonyOS Sans.

What is WenQuanYi Zen Hei called in my design apps after installing?
