Design & features

Typefesse was designed by French graphic designer Océane Juvin, a type design graduate of École Estienne in Paris, and was named one of Typographica's favourite typefaces of 2019. Inspired by the interplay of bodies and letters, it is a cheeky, playful "bum" display face.

It includes Claire-Obscure and Pleine styles: the former is twisted and illustrative, while Pleine stays legible even at small sizes and can be layered over it.

Best uses

We recommend Typefesse for dessert and drink posters, English accents on packaging and English poster headlines. For English headlines, try all caps with a little extra tracking.

FAQ

Do I need a license to use Typefesse in commercial work?

Released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; free for personal and commercial use. Keep the license file that comes with the download and confirm the latest terms with the official source before commercial use.

Does Typefesse support Chinese?

No. Typefesse is a Latin typeface without Chinese characters, so pair it with a Chinese font for any Chinese text—Alibaba PuHuiTi on this site is one option.

Is Typefesse good for body text?

It works for English text but has no Chinese characters. In mixed layouts, set Chinese in Alibaba PuHuiTi and fine-tune sizes and baselines.

How do I use Typefesse in Photoshop or Figma?

Download the files from the Netdisk link and unzip them, then drag the files into your system fonts folder, or double-click and install. Restart your design app and search for "Typefesse" in the font list. Figma in the browser needs the Figma font installer to read local fonts.
