Decide on three gates, not template counts
People searching Screenshots.pro alternative are rarely shopping for prettier gradients. They are stuck on one of three gates:
- Can Basic $0 ship to the store tonight — does the license force a credit link on the App Store / Play product page?
- Do source captures leave the machine — cloud autosave helps teams and hurts unreleased builds.
- Is multilingual or API worth a subscription — Standard $19/month, Extended $49/month on the public pricing page (checked 5 Nov 2026).
This page is a head-to-head against those gates, using the live browser-local editor path on this site versus Screenshots.pro’s license and pricing pages. It is not another ten-tool scorecard — that lives in the best free app store screenshot tools 2026 list. One brand mention only: AppShot Maker’s store-screenshot path is free, browser-local, and does not require a tool credit on your listing. Primary CTA: /en/preview.
Snapshot table (5 Nov 2026)
| Dimension | /en/preview | Screenshots.pro |
|---|
| Shape | Browser boards + size / compress / cutout / frame toolkit | Browser panoramic editor + cloud sync |
| Free export | PNG ZIP, no watermark, no forced store credit | Basic $0: devices, templates, editor, smart multi-size export |
| License tripwire | No attribution clause for listing use | Basic requires attribution wherever creatives appear (App Store / Play / GitHub, etc.) |
| Where files live | Compose in-browser; progress mostly local storage | Product copy: autosave synced to their servers |
| Localization | Polish one locale in /en/preview; caption matrix ZIP via /en/tools/screenshot-localize (you supply copy; no paid MT API) | Localization sits on Standard $19/mo |
| 3D / API | Flat boards + /en/tools/device-mockup; no public REST render API | 3D angles from Standard up; API on Extended $49/mo |
| China 1080×1920 | Built-in presets; OPPO often needs /en/tools/compress under 1MB | ASC/Play device list first |
| Best when | Ship tonight, refuse a credit line, keep pixels local, multi-store sizes | Template library + cloud resume, or pay for no-attribution / localization / API |
What Basic attribution actually says
The Screenshots.pro license page (checked 5 Nov 2026) is unambiguous for Basic:
- You must provide an attribution link wherever the creative assets are used.
- If the surface cannot host a link, you still must name Screenshots.pro as the source (their example pattern: “App Store screenshots generated with Screenshots.pro”).
- Basic forbids charging end users for those creatives (selling a screenshot design kit / freelance “App Store screenshot design” service) — that is Extended territory.
- Standard: unlimited end products without attribution, still no selling the generated creatives themselves.
- Extended: charge for derivative client work + API access.
Practical read: if your product page must stay free of third-party tool credits, Basic is not free for you — upgrade to Standard or switch to an editor that does not require attribution. Many “best free” roundups list Basic features and skip this clause; that gap is why this A-vs-B exists beside yesterday’s listicle.
Five paths — pick one
A. Submit tonight, zero tool credit on the listing
- Use /en/preview: pick iPhone 6.3″ (ASC required Dynamic Island medium slot; common pixels 1206×2622) or Android 1080×1920 → titles → Export all.
- Marketing frames: /en/tools/device-mockup. For actual store slots, re-check each store’s rules on device chrome (China Android stores are especially hostile to iPhone bezels).
- Skip Screenshots.pro Basic.
B. Attribution is fine; speed matters
- Stay on Screenshots.pro Basic — the feature list is generous and smart-export is fast.
- Before release, add the credit their license requires, and re-read their license page yourself (their site wins if wording changes).
C. Auto-translate many locales, no attribution
- Screenshots.pro: Standard $19/month (pricing page, 5 Nov 2026).
- Local free path: prepare copy yourself → /en/tools/screenshot-localize → per-locale ZIP folders (optional 6.9″ / 6.3″ / 1080×1920). The tool does not call DeepL/Google Translate; that boundary is intentional.
D. CI/CD must render screenshots
- Screenshots.pro Extended (API) is the honest fit.
- This site is human-in-the-browser export. Do not force a “free alternative” story onto a pipeline requirement.
E. One narrative across ASC + Play + China Android stores
- Master on /en/preview (6.9″ works well), then switch Android / Huawei-style 1080×1920 or use master multi-size export.
- File weight: OPPO portrait shots commonly <1MB → /en/tools/compress. Spec sheet: China Android store screenshot sizes.
- Screenshots.pro optimizes for ASC/Play device catalogs; China volume caps are your follow-up step.
First-hand: ship a set from /en/preview (~five minutes)
- Open /en/preview. Under Size & export, pick the target preset (ASC: start with 6.3″; Play/China portrait: 1080×1920).
- Upload screenshots — drop 3–8 UI captures (up to 10 boards).
- Title & copy for short headlines; Background solid/gradient beats a messy desk.
- Optional Device look for framed boards; transparent phone-only PNGs belong in device-mockup.
- Export all → PNG ZIP. Compress for OPPO if needed. Play Feature Graphic is a separate 1024×500 slot via /en/tools/feature-graphic — do not stuff a portrait screenshot into that field.
Composition stays in the browser; we do not upload your originals to our servers for cloud rendering.
Official anchors (rechecked 5 Nov 2026)
- Apple ASC screenshot specs: required iPhone = Dynamic Island medium; iPad 13″ if you ship iPadOS; jpeg/jpg/png; no alpha. Duo sizes exist; required from April 2027 for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later — not a current universal hard requirement.
- Google Play preview assets: screenshots JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha); Feature Graphic 1024×500 JPEG/24-bit PNG no alpha.
How this pairs with the Best list
Bottom line
- Free + no listing credit + local pixels → /en/preview path.
- Happy to credit the tool for template speed → Screenshots.pro Basic is coherent.
- Need no-attribution localization or an API → budget Standard/Extended; a “free alternative” slogan will not mint those features.
License and pricing always defer to Screenshots.pro’s live pages; this write-up’s check date is 5 Nov 2026.
