App Icon Generator Workflow: Sizes, Safe Zone, Store Preview
An app icon generator step is usually packaging, not branding: final artwork → platform pixel packs → catch crop and alpha failures before review. Start at Icon maker /icon for multi-size export. For a single .ico, use ICO converter.
Design systems and mask rules are covered in the app icon design guide and Android adaptive icon safe zone. This article is the generate-and-verify path only.
Workflow
- Prepare a square, opaque master (draw large, then downscale).
- Open /en/icon, select iOS / Android / HarmonyOS size sets, export.
- iOS: the system applies the mask—avoid fake pre-rounded padding; alpha can trigger errors such as ITMS-90717.
- Android: keep key shapes inside the adaptive safe zone so launchers do not clip them.
- Drop the icon plus screenshots into Store preview and shrink the view—legibility beats polish.
- Screenshots still belong in the screenshot studio; do not improvise icons there.
