Commercial-Use Emoji Library: 2497 Cleared Images for Promo

“Shareable” on social is not the same as “clear for commerce”

Reaction images help release notes, promo creatives, and community posts. Most meme packs floating around the web have no provenance: celebrity stills, film frames, anime characters, or anonymous redraws. Fine for a private chat; risky inside App Store marketing, ads, or paid social.

The Free Emoji & Reaction Image Library only keeps images whose licence clearly allows commercial use, with sources checked one by one. About 2497 assets today:

Rough bucketSource and licence
3D / still emojiMicrosoft Fluent Emoji (MIT)
Animated emojiFluent animated + Google Animated Noto Emoji (Noto = CC BY 4.0)
Painting reactionsWikimedia Commons public domain / CC0
Text stickersSite-made stickers from Fluent bases (MIT)

Left out on purpose: celebrity photos, film/TV stills, cartoon or game characters, unclear provenance, non-commercial clauses, and share-alike (BY-SA) sets that complicate derivatives.

Three-step usage

  1. Open the meme library. Search English, Chinese, or slang (facepalm, lol, meh, mind blown) or tap a trending chip.
  2. Filter by Stickers / 3D emoji / Animated / Paintings. Tick No attribution needed when you want to hide CC BY items.
  3. Open a detail panel: copy image, download original or PNG, or copy Markdown. CC BY entries include a ready-made credit line.

Search and filters run locally in the browser—no login, no search logging.

Using assets next to ASO work

  • Good fits: blog headers, social creatives, slide decks, light empty-state illustration (still subject to store review taste).
  • Be careful: making one emoji your trademark or primary app icon—shared designs are hard to own exclusively and collide with OS emoji.
  • Do not: crop characters out of competitor store screenshots from the inspiration gallery and call them “cleared.”
  • Motion: animated items ship mainly as WebP. Copy image often yields a still PNG of the current frame; use Download original for motion. Need GIF? Pipe through Image to GIF.

Credit workflow that survives shipping week

For CC BY art, paste the panel’s sentence into:

  • an article “Image credits” footer,
  • a video description,
  • small type on a poster,
  • or the Markdown snippet the tool already builds.

When you post many short social updates, enable No attribution needed first so the queue is MIT/PD-only and you are not chasing credits per tweet.

Worked example: changelog card

  1. Search shipped / party / a relevant sticker.
  2. Prefer MIT sticker or Fluent still if the card has no room for a credit line.
  3. Copy PNG into your changelog template beside product UI—not instead of it.
  4. Export the final card; keep listing screenshots as real app UI in the screenshot maker.

Reporting bad metadata

Every item links to its source. If a licence looks wrong or infringes your rights, use the copyright / removal link on the tool page with the image id; we remove after verification.

Why not OpenMoji-style BY-SA packs?

Share-alike licences can force your combined creative into the same licence. That is a poor default for product marketing repos, so this library optimizes for MIT, CC BY (with explicit credit UX), and public domain instead.

Kids and sensitive categories

Even cleared emoji can be tone-deaf in Kids or Health listings. Prefer restrained stills, avoid joke stickers that undercut trust, and keep medical or financial claims in real UI and copy—not in a winky face.

Batching assets into a design system folder

Create three local folders—mit-fluent, cc-by-noto, pd-paintings—and download into the matching bucket. Your design tool libraries stay auditable, and legal review can sample by folder instead of hunting through a flat dump of 2497 files.

Checklist

  • Search with user language, not only Unicode short names
  • Read MIT vs CC BY before a paid campaign
  • Use the attribution filter when credits will not fit
  • Download originals for animation; copy PNG for stills
  • Never treat emoji as a registrable logo mark
  • Keep primary store screenshots as authentic product UI; emoji are garnish
